Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
