Money Management, Why You Need to Manage Your Bankroll

April 25th, 2009

You should only play games that your bankroll will allow. If you have 200 dollars to play with for a month you don't want to lose it all in the first week playing a 5-10 no-limit game. The average pot in these games would be about the size of your bankroll. You should play lower limit games that match your bankroll.

Minimize your losses. I have seen players loose a big hand, go on tilt and loose their whole bankroll in one night. If you ever get angry because of a bad beat or loose a lot of money quickly you should take a break. A lot of mental energy will be used up worrying about your bad luck, this will effect your game in a negative way. I recommend going for a walk or even quit playing for the day. There will always be another game tomorrow.

Protect your bankroll. Not every player needs a bankroll. If you only play on occasion with extra money you probably don't need to worry about this. But if you are a player who wants to make a good income from poker your bankroll is an asset. Lets say you start with a bankroll of 500 dollars at a poker site. Now after a week of winning you are up to 2000 in your account. You take out 1500 and go buy a new TV. That is fine but if you get on a bad streak you can easily loose the 500 you still have. Then you will have no bankroll and wont be able to play. This happens to a lot of good player, and if they cant play they cant win anymore. This can put an end to your poker profits.

So just remember that poker is a game of swings. You can win a lot but you can also get on a bad luck streak and lose a lot. Just watch your bankroll, manage your money, and always leave yourself outs.

——Suggestion——-

Remember to think about your bankroll before each time you play. Think about what will happen if you loose all your money in your account. Will you want to deposit more money you cant afford to lose? Are the stakes of the game so high it you loose a big hand you will be out of chips? Just think before you start to play about the worst case scenario and you should have less bankroll problems.

Video Poker - The Skill Debate

April 22nd, 2009

You will find some die-hard video poker players in any brick and mortar casino or in any online casino who have done their homework on the game. These players have read every book imaginable on the subject and are often convinced that the only beatable game in the casino is indeed video poker. The players have studied every variation of the game and are convinced it can be beaten regularly for profit. These people will never believe that their game of video poker is anything less than a game determined by skill and they are right.

Just as in online Texas Hold'em games, video poker games are supposed to deal random hands and give the player the opportunity to use what they know to make the most out of the hand they are dealt. These random hands are valid poker hands and then give the player the opportunity to control the outcome of their game.

Critics of video poker will argue that the game is on a RNG (random number generator just like slot machines) and therefore the machine is set, just as slot machines are to payout a certain amount within a certain time. These same critics would like for you to believe that while you play video poker online, you will be given the illusion of being in total control over your hand when in fact, you are not.

These claims are rubbish if you think about it. The reason is clear. Video poker machines are set to pay back a percentage based on "perfect play" or near perfect play. You will of course have a more favourable outcome if you learn how to play the hands you are dealt with properly so you have a chance of beating the machine. This is true of any card game and just like in the online version of Texas Hold'em, you will increase your chances for a favourable outcome if you play like you are supposed to play.

The RNG can play a significant role in your starting hands of course but the same RNG factor plays a role in the new cards you receive when you discard several that you won't need to make a winning hand. This is one of those games which can be debated all day long as being a game of chance, but ultimately there have been enough books written on the subject to prove it is indeed a game of skill.

Best Online Poker Strategy: Play Patiently at the Table

April 17th, 2009

A common error made by many novice (and a shockingly high amount of those who should know better) players is feeling the need to participate on every hand dealt. A successful player only plays 20-30% of dealt hands. Much like a professional baseball player who is able to sign a multimillion dollar contract by maintaining a batting average of .300, the successful poker player knows that the majority of the time another player will walk away with the pot.

With that in mind it is important to play aggressively once you get a hand that you are confident in. Remember, 70% of the time other players are ready to fold in search of a hand that they think favors them! Be ready to force the weak players out with your aggressive bets. If you are confident you have the strongest hand in the game, raise the bet! The main reason for being aggressive is to have those with weak hands fold early on, as some tend to hang on looking for the miracle draw to win the hand. By forcing their hand early you are lowering the chance of those miracle hands and also ensuring you win the pot. It is always better to win a smaller pot than take a chance that another players draws that miracle hand late in the game.

Your table image is also very important. Build a strong table image by not bluffing early in your play. Bluffing early marks you as a bluffer and people will call your bluff 100% of the time. Play good cards and throw away junk cards, have the other players at the table see you are only playing strong hands. This sets up the opportunity for you to use a good bluff later in the game as you have conditioned the others players into thinking that when you raise you have the cards to win the hand.

Studying other players and their betting behavior is equally as important. It is too easy to get wrapped up in your own game and miss the "tells" the other players may be exhibiting. Knowing if they bet aggressively or typically call with a strong hand empowers you and your betting decisions.

Most important of all is know when to quit! You should always be sharp and focused when at the betting table. Fatigue leads to mental errors and ends up costing you money. Frustration is another sign that you are ready to call it a night, or at least take a break. Play smart and you will win smart.

Gamble Online for Convenience

April 11th, 2009

Gambling online has many benefits, but none more important that the convenience that it offers. Gone are the days that you have to go to an actual land based casino in order to place bets on your favorite sports teams, or to take part in other casino games.

Online gambling sites are available to anybody who wishes to join. They can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Anytime that you feel up to gambling you will be able to log on and get at it.

Another great thing about online gambling is the convenience that is offered by having all of the games that you may want in one place. Just like in a casino you will be able to play any game that peaks your interest without having to leave that particular site. This means that you can bet on your favorite team one second, and then go onto playing poker or blackjack the next. The possibilities are endless, and you will not have enough time in the day to play all of the games that are offered.

The easy to follow sign on process of these sites is also very convenient. Most sites require that you sign on with an email address or customized log in. You will also need to use a password that you create when you sign up for membership. The log in is secure, and will only take a few seconds. After you log in you will have full access to the site and all of its features.

Overall, convenience is one of the main reasons that people are deciding to gamble online. You no longer have to find a casino to gamble at; all you have to do is find access to the internet. If you have that, you can gamble from any computer in the world.

Get a Betting System

April 9th, 2009

The difference between my old country and my new country is enormous. In this country you can take five dollars and turn it into a million dollars. In my old country that same five dollars would feed your family for a few days but you could never turn it into more than that.

Gambling is a way of life. Whether you gamble at your local Texas Holdem Friday night poker game, whether you gamble at a casino on blackjack, whether you gamble on slot machines or you gamble on the stock market – there is no difference.

When I came to this great country I had nothing. And now, after years of studying the great gamblers and their systems – it does not matter if I am handicapping a horse race, a NBA basketball game, the Super Bowl – I know and trust in my betting system that I will make a living.

And I also know that in my heart there is no other life for me. I could never go back to my old country. They do not see and they do not understand. They come from a different world, a different time. It is not like this country.

This country is full of hope. And money brings this hope. The opportunity here is huge. A single poker chip is an opportunity. And what you do with that poker chip is completely up to you.

But one thing I must tell you is that you must have a gambling system. Study the great gamblers out there. Take their betting systems and refine them, make them your own. Practice and test them, test them over and over again until you have mastered them.

Whether it is poker, blackjack, craps, the horse races or what ever your game is – master your system of gambling. And if you don't know how find somebody who does and learn from them. Learn from them and reap from their experience. There are so many betting systems out there that provide you with all the information you need. The opportunities are vast and at your finger tips.

And remember, the greatest gamble in life is love. If you love what you do, if you love who you are with, if you love yourself – you cannot fail no matter what anybody tells you.

So go out there and master your life. Master your gambling system. And most of all have fun.

Extra Features of Great Online Casinos

April 2nd, 2009

Wondering what really sets a great online casino apart from the rest? It’s all about attention to details! Great online casinos offer extra services and features that make them stand out from the crowd. Here are some extras you might see offered when you’re looking for an online casino:

LIVE CHAT: Live chat between players can add an extra element of enjoyment to the game. Not everyone likes to chat, though, and often the amount of the chat depends on the type of game you select. But if you enjoy socializing with other players, chat is an important feature.

MULTIPLE LANGUAGES: Some online casinos have translators or downloads available in multiple languages, like Japanese, Spanish and French. Imagine playing a game of poker with someone across the globe. This is a great way for people from other countries to play the same game together!

24/7 SUPPORT: Around-the-clock customer support is a very important feature that is, unfortunately, not offered at every online casino. The best online casinos offer 24/7 live chat or phone support.

BONUSES/PROMOTIONS: Some casinos offer you extra bonuses, prizes, perks and promotions when you become a ″regular″ customer. Others offer you loyalty points that can be redeemed for extra money or other perks. The more you play, the more bonuses you accumulate!

MATCHING DEPOSIT: Most casinos require that you make a deposit when you sign up to play with real money, but some also offer to match that amount (up to a certain dollar amount or percentage). For example, they may match you dollar for dollar up to $100. It’s like getting free money!

FREE GAMES: You should always look for an online casino website that offers free games or free trials. It gives you a chance to check out their software, chat rooms, and the overall experience without an initial investment from you.
